Do you know the village of Sigolsheim? Let yourself be charmed by its Romanesque church of Saints Peter and Paul, a jewel of 12th century Romanesque art in Alsace.
This wine-growing village has also known tragic events: its hill is called the “Bluttberg”, i.e. the bloody hill, a name given following the fierce fighting for the liberation of the Colmar pocket during the Second World War, in 1944/45.
Its summit is now home to the National Necropolis, a Franco-American military cemetery, where the soldiers who fell in that winter battle are buried.
From this hill, come and admire its magnificent 360° view over the vineyards, the Alsace plain and the German black forest. The place is calm and meditative.
You will be seduced by the beauty of this landscape!
Not to be missed: its church, its necropolis, its military cemetery
