Sigolsheim
Have you stopped at Sigolsheim ?
Its gem is the Roman church of Saints Pierre and Paul, a 12th century Roman art jewel in Alsace. This viticultural village has been through some tragic events. Its hillside is called the « Blutberg » or the bloody hillside, a name given to it because of the tough battles for the liberation of the Colmar Pocket of the Second World War in 1944-1945. Today, its summit accommodates a national necropolis; a French-American military cemetery where fallen soldiers were laid to rest after this winter battle. This memorial place holds a magnificent point of view on the « route des vins »( the wine route), the Alsatian plains and the Black Forest in Germany.
You will be seduced by the beauty of this scenery!
