Due to its border specificity, Alsatian Vosges were the scene of heavy fighting during the worl war 1
from 1914 to 1918. The hike will take you on the battlefield among the highest in the western front, the imposing altitude pastures of this No Man's Land you would also walk trough the cantonments in the against-slopes.Here, for ever, History has been made by geography.
Level : medium. The chosen walks are suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition.
Information : 12 to 20km / day, 4 to 6 hours/ day and 400m to 600 m elevation.
Dates : from mid March to mid November, subject to availability.
Equipment needed : walking schoes, waterproof protection and small backpack for business the day, reusable water bottle and cutlery.
Example for a stay 4 days/ 3 nights: 3 nights with breakfast, 3 half-board dinners (drinks not included), 2 picnic meals, 1 road book for 1 to 6 people (see example) available at your first hotel with technical information and a detailed 1:25000 map. Transport of luggage from one hotel to another, transfer from Colmar train station to the first hotel on the tour (outward and return) for a minimum of 2 people or private parking (the transfer back to the vehicle is provided free of charge and on a voluntary basis by the hotelier at the client's request) and the booking service.
