"Oh Les Welches" festival
This is the day not to be missed if you want to discover the valley’s artisans and producers!
Authenticity and the passing on of knowledge across generations are celebrated.
Demonstrations of traditional forest and farm trades: logging, timber hauling, woodworking, farm life, stone-cutting, clog-making, traditional timber framing, millstone grinding…
Demonstrations of local crafts: toys, decorative items, paintings… with some artisans making their wares on the spot
Farm produce and artisan specialities: cured meats, charcuterie, cheeses, honeys, jams, sweets, herbs, wines, liqueurs, beers, syrups, fruit juices…
Folklore: traditional mountain dances performed by the Hattatos folk group, and the Cors des Alpes
Children’s entertainment: wooden games, egg games
Farm animals on display: cows, goats, etc.
Food: on the menu at lunchtime: woodcutters’ grilled meats, ‘poêlée welche’ and ‘tartes flambées’; in the evening: ‘poêlée welche’ (spätzli, bacon, mountain tomme cheese and onions).
All day: refreshment stands and snacks from the exhibitors…
In the evening, a free dance hosted by a DJ.
