From Kaysersberg to Kientzheim

Balade entre Kaysersberg et Kientzheim dans le vignoble

The vineyards offer exceptional scenery, with their typical villages and endless expanses. You’re familiar with the Wine Route by car, but this tour invites you to cover part of it on foot. Starting in Kaysersberg, follow the famous route to Santiago de Compostela. The ultimate reward for this walk is Kientzheim: the only Alsatian village still entirely surrounded by ramparts. You’ll be seduced by its authenticity, tranquillity and rich heritage. There’s so much to discover that the time spent wandering around this pretty town will subconsciously extend this short 5km tour.

A complete change of scenery and green as far as the eye can see – that’s what awaits you on this walk. Leaving the village, the trail winds through the lush green countryside of Faurupt, offering a succession of views of the rural landscape. The second part of the route takes you to the ruins of Le Bonhomme castle, the “high point” of the hike. Follow a rocky path with a Mediterranean feel and marvel at the beauty of the panorama.

On the heights between Orbey and Lapoutroie

Randonnée entre Orbey et Lapoutroie

Let yourself be charmed by the bucolic landscapes that will compensate for the effort of your climb. Join the small country roads overlooking Lapoutroie and Orbey to contemplate the typical landscapes of the Welche region. An area where meadows and forests combine to create unique panoramas. And when hiking meets gastronomy, it’s all the more enjoyable! Along the way, you’ll come across the hotel-restaurant Le Bouton d’Or(*). Its tempting menu will give you the strength you need for what’s to come, and you’ll have the pleasure of marvelling at the view from its terrace. But be warned, the tour isn’t over yet.

This walk, starting in Sigolsheim, takes you to the heights of the vineyards and in particular to the Grand Cru du Mambourg hillside. Reach the necropolis, a must-see site for immersing yourself in the valley’s military past. It is the final resting place of 1,601 soldiers who “died for France” in the Second World War. The Necropolis also offers a 360° view over the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and the Vosges mountains. On a clear day, you can even see the Bernese Alps.
