Heritage Days - Visit: from medieval town to post-war reconstruction
As part of Heritage Days, take part in a guided tour of the architectural heritage of Ammerschwihr, 85% of which was destroyed in December 1944.
Accompanied by Francis Lichtlé, historian and archivist, you'll set off from the foot of the Fripons tower to learn about the town's medieval past and its ancient fortifications. The tour then takes you through the town to retrace the stages of post-war reconstruction, highlighting the few homes miraculously spared, as well as the church and its precious 16th-century statues.
Visit in French only.
