Picnic area near the Auberge le Haicot. Accessible by car.

At an altitude of 1085 m, the Haycot offers you a breathtaking spot, ideal to recharge your batteries while enjoying the fresh air. You will have a beautiful view of the Côte d'Echery and the blue line of the Vosges mountains that stretches as far as the eye can see. If the sun is shining, don't hesitate to bring everything you need for a picnic!

The Haycot is originally a former dairy, founded by the Amish. Stemming from the Anabaptist movement, the Amish community was born in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines in 1693. It advocates a communal, frugal life, keeping itself apart from society. In accordance with their religious doctrine, the Amish settled on the heights of the Val d'Argent to develop mountain agriculture. Expelled in 1712, the Amish found refuge in Pennsylvania. Their farms were taken over by farmers from the neighbouring valleys, and they gradually became farm inns, with the development of mountain tourism from the end of the 19th century.
