Concert to discover unusual instruments
The concert La boite à musique will take place in the choir of the Saint-Martin church in Ammerschwihr, which is also known for its remarkable acoustics.
On the theme of the music room of Queen Marie-Antoinette, the artist Stéphane Schweitzer will present old instruments such as the table piano, the bass viol or the pardessus de viole according to a new programme of works by Glück, Mozart, Philippe-Jacques Meyer (1737-1819), in particular.
The artist had already impressed his audience on 31 July by presenting other ancient instruments (for example the viola da gamba which, unlike a cello with one foot, has eight strings and is held between the legs, from the Italian gamba, leg, hence the gambettes in Old French). A very interesting discovery to be made by all audiences.
