In Kientzheim and Sigolsheim, 3 wine paths offer a stroll in the vineyard, in search of the various type of vines :
- Kientzheim : Since the Middle Ages, as far back as our files go, Kientzheim was recognized as a wine centre and its wines were honoured at important gatherings. This reputation, our village especially owes it to a truly exceptional soil and the know-how of its wine growers.
As a pleasant stroll in the heart of this vineyard, the hike will make you discover the characteristics of the soil, the range of type of vines, the work of the vine and all the secrets of the wine throughout the route.
In addition to the prestigious sites of the Great Vintages of Schlossberg and Furstensturm, you will get to know the localities known as Altenbourg, Grafreben, Patergarten, each one with the richness of its own soil, orientation and altitude which confer a noble personality on the wines which result from them.
Many points of view will reveal the privileged position of this vineyard, dominating the plain of Alsace, at the entrance to the valley of Kaysersberg, flowing into the solid massif of the Vosges.
- Schlossberg path : Sand-granite soil, with a southern exposure.
Type of dominant vine: Riesling, of a rare richness, with the mineral flavours becoming accentuated with age.
- Furstentum path : Clay-limestone soil, with a full southern exposure.
Type of dominant vines: Riesling, of slower evolution, preserving a surprising freshness with age; Gewurstraminer, with spiced aromas, suited to ageing.
